Miele G Series Dishwasher Fault Codes: Drain and Intake Checks

F11, F12, and F13 narrow the diagnosis to drain or intake faults, but each still requires testing.

By 4 min read

A Miele fault code is a routing clue. It tells the diagnosis where to begin, not which part to order. Save the exact code and model before resetting the machine.

F11: the drain sequence did not finish as expected

Start with the owner-accessible filter and water level. The full test path can include the non-return path, drain hose, pump, wiring, and the signal the control uses to confirm draining. A blocked path and an electrical pump fault can produce the same displayed code.

Record whether water sits above the filter and whether the drain sound changed. Follow only the normal filter-care steps in the exact model guide. Do not reach into the pump, disconnect the hose, or repeatedly reset the machine to force another drain. Debris, an installation restriction, a weak or obstructed pump, and an electrical fault can arrive at the same code by different routes.

F12 and F13: intake and fill

These faults move the check to the water supply. The shutoff, supply line, inlet screen, valve, flow, wiring, and control command all belong to that system. Testing pressure and the valve circuit separates a restricted supply from a failed component.

At owner level, confirm only that the accessible shutoff is open and the visible supply line is not sharply pinched. Note whether the dishwasher makes a fill attempt and whether other water work was done recently. Do not disconnect the line or open the inlet assembly. A restricted supply and a valve that never opens need different repairs even though both can leave the tub empty.

Why the same code can lead to different repairs

The control is reporting that an expected event did not happen in the allowed sequence. F11 can follow a blocked drain path or a pump that cannot run. F12 or F13 can follow poor supply flow or an inlet component fault.

Diagnosis confirms the event first, then measures the relevant path. That avoids replacing an expensive component because its system name appears in a code description. The written repair scope should state the supported cause and the proposed work, not merely repeat the display.

Preserve the sequence

Record when the code appeared, whether water remained, whether the cycle had filled or washed, and what happened on the last normal run. Do not repeatedly reset a machine that leaks, trips power, or smells hot.

Save the complete model number and the exact code, including any wording or secondary symbol on the display. Note the selected program, the cycle phase, recent plumbing or installation work, and any change in sound. A photo taken before a reset is better than a code recalled later.

Keep the machine off if water is near electrical parts, the breaker repeats, or there is heat or burning odor. Owner checks stop at the normal filter, visible supply, and information in the model guide. Pump access, live measurements, heater testing, and internal wiring checks belong to a controlled diagnosis.

See Miele dishwasher repair for the diagnosis process. The visit is $99, includes additional appliances checked at the same visit, and is credited toward an approved repair.

Straight answer

The dishwashers we do not take.

We do not repair dishwashers from LG, Samsung, Bosch, KitchenAid, Whirlpool, or Jenn-Air. Any model, any year.

It is not a knock on the machines. It is the parts pricing. What a circulation pump, a control board, or a touch panel costs on one of these, set against what the dishwasher sold for new, turns the repair into a bad buy for you more often than not. We would rather tell you that here than charge you $99 to say it in your kitchen.

Everything else from these brands we still fix: refrigerators, ranges, ovens, cooktops, washers, and dryers. We repair dishwashers from every other brand.

  • Serviced: Fisher & Paykel, Miele, Cove, Asko. We also service every other residential and commercial brand.
  • Not serviced: LG, Samsung, Bosch, KitchenAid, Whirlpool, Jenn-Air dishwashers
  • Still serviced on those brands: refrigerators, ranges, ovens, cooktops, washers, dryers

FAQ

Common questions.

Does Miele F11 always mean the drain pump failed?
No. F11 points to a drain problem, which can involve the filter, non-return path, hose, pump, wiring, or the way the machine sensed the drain sequence.
Do F12 and F13 prove the inlet valve is bad?
No. They direct attention to intake and fill. The shutoff, supply line, inlet screen, valve, flow, wiring, and control command still have to be checked.
