Sharp microwave that ran cold in Alamo
An Alamo homeowner had a Sharp microwave that lit up, spun the plate, and counted down the timer, but food came out cold. Runs but no heat almost always points at the magnetron, the part that actually generates the microwaves.
On the $75 diagnostic we confirmed a dead magnetron. We replaced it and checked the high-voltage transformer, the fuses, and the cooling fan while the unit was open, since a magnetron that quits early usually has something else stressing it. Everything else was sound.
Reassembled and tested: it heats evenly and runs quiet again, same day. Worth being straight about this one. On a small countertop microwave a magnetron repair often costs more than a new unit, and we’ll tell you that before you spend a dime. This was a built-in over-the-range Sharp, where a swap means cabinet and trim work, so fixing it was the cheaper path.
