ZLINE dual fuel range oven not heating in San Francisco
Problem: A San Francisco home cook had a ZLINE RA30, the 30-inch dual fuel range with four gas burners on top and an electric oven below. The burners were fine. The oven was the problem: it would turn on, but it never got hot enough to bake anything. On a dual fuel range that almost always points at the electric side of the machine, and the first suspect is the bake element on the oven floor.
Diagnostics: On the first visit our technician ran the oven and watched the bottom element. It stayed cold while the oven called for heat, which rules out the controls and the wiring feeding it and leaves the element itself. He photographed the rating plate inside the range (model RA30) so the replacement would be the exact ZLINE part, not a close match.
Solution: He came back with the new bake element, disconnected power, pulled the old element off the back wall of the cavity, and fitted the new one to the same bracket and terminals. Then he ran a full heat-up with an oven thermometer sitting on the rack to make sure the oven actually reaches the temperature the dial says.
Result: The new element glows an even red from end to end within a minute or two, and the oven holds temperature. Two short visits, one part, and the range is back to doing both halves of its job.
