- Blown thermal fuse (DLE series). LG electric dryers carry a thermal fuse on the heater housing that opens for good once it trips. When it blows the dryer still tumbles and the timer counts down, but no heat ever comes on. Nine times out of ten the fuse blew because the vent was clogged and the unit overheated, so we never just swap the fuse and walk. We replace the fuse and clear the restriction, or it blows again in a week.
- Open heating element assembly. The heating element is a coil inside a metal can at the back of the cabinet. The coil sags, touches the housing, and either grounds out or breaks open. A broken coil reads infinite resistance on the meter and gives you a stone-cold load. We test the element terminal to terminal, and if it is open we replace the full assembly, not a patched coil.
