Maytag Maxima dryer door that wouldn’t latch in San Ramon
The call A San Ramon homeowner’s Maytag Maxima dryer wouldn’t start. The door was hanging low and not closing square, so the door switch never engaged. No closed door, no start. That’s the machine protecting itself, not a broken control.
What we found The hinge assembly was bent from years of the door getting leaned on and loaded heavy, and the mounting screws had worked loose. The door couldn’t sit tight enough to trip the switch.
The fix Replaced the hinge with a genuine Maytag part and snugged the hardware back down. Then adjusted the door alignment so it sits even and the seal makes contact all the way around.
How it turned out Door closes solid, switch engages, dryer starts and runs normally. Small part, quick fix, and a lot cheaper than the new dryer they figured they were about to buy.
