KitchenAid range hood that quit pulling air in Danville
The call A Danville homeowner’s KitchenAid hood was hardly moving any air, made a grinding noise, and gave off a hot electrical smell a few seconds after switch-on. That smell is your cue to shut it off and call.
What we found The blower motor bearings were shot. The motor was binding and overheating, which killed the airflow and made the racket. We checked the wiring and the switch to be sure nothing else was cooking. Just the motor.
The fix Replaced the blower motor with the OEM KitchenAid part, cleaned the baked-on grease out of the housing and duct while we were in there, and set the fan speeds back where they belong.
How it turned out Quiet, and it pulls air the way it should again. A worn blower motor is the most common range hood repair we run, and this was a straightforward Danville appliance repair call.
