Dacor in Alameda
Dacor in Alameda kitchens.
Alameda kitchens are a mix you do not see anywhere else in the East Bay. Victorians and craftsman bungalows on the East End, 1940s war-era housing toward the West End, and the newer Bayport homes built on the old Navy base. A lot of those older houses got kitchen remodels in the 2000s, and Dacor wall ovens and gas cooktops went into plenty of them because the 30-inch cutouts fit the old cabinet runs.
The island adds its own problem: salt air. I open Dacor cooktops in Alameda and find corrosion on spark electrode connections and burner terminals that I rarely see in Concord or Dublin. That matters for diagnosis, because a burner that clicks nonstop near the estuary is often a moisture and corrosion issue, not a failed spark module, and the fix costs a lot less.
We come to Alameda from San Ramon with the common Dacor parts stocked. The diagnostic is $75 and it credits toward the repair. You get a written quote before any part goes in, and since Samsung took over Dacor in 2016 the parts supply is dependable, so I can usually give you a realistic date instead of a shrug.

Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Older Dacor range dead or stuck heating from a failed relay board. The pre-Samsung ERSD and ERD ranges used a relay board that is a known weak point. The oven either goes completely dead or, worse, keeps heating after you shut it off. In Alameda's older homes I also check the outlet and the aged circuit behind it before condemning the board, because low voltage on a tired circuit can mimic board failure. Board replacement carries our one-year major-parts warranty.
- Cooktop burners clicking nonstop from moisture and corrosion. On Dacor sealed-burner gas cooktops near the water, the spark electrodes keep clicking even with the knobs off. Boil-overs plus salt air corrode the electrode wiring under the cooktop deck. I pull the top, dry and clean the harness, and replace corroded electrodes rather than defaulting to a new spark module. If the module itself has failed, I show you the test result before quoting it.
- Discovery wall oven door locked after self-clean. Dacor Discovery wall ovens like the DOB30 sometimes refuse to unlock after a self-clean cycle. The latch motor stalls or the door switch reads wrong, and the control will not release the door. Do not force it, the latch hooks bend easily and that turns a small repair into a door rebuild. I test the latch assembly and switch at the door, and the parts are stocked items now.

FAQ
Dacor in Alameda questions, answered.
-
How long does it take you to reach Alameda from San Ramon?
About 45 minutes on a normal day, taking 580 west and coming onto the island through the High Street or Park Street bridge. I route Alameda together with Oakland and San Leandro stops, so if you are flexible on the window I can usually land you on a day I am already crossing the bridge, which keeps scheduling quick. -
My Dacor range is from before Samsung bought the brand. Can you still get parts?
Usually yes. Samsung rebuilt the Dacor parts pipeline after 2016, and many legacy Renaissance and Discovery parts are available again, including the relay boards that were hard to find for years. At the diagnostic I check real-time availability and put the part cost and lead time in the written quote, so you decide with actual numbers. -
Is it worth repairing a 15-year-old Dacor wall oven in an older Alameda house?
Often it is, because replacing a wall oven in a vintage cabinet run can mean carpentry on top of the appliance cost. If the cavity, door, and wiring are sound, a board or latch repair is the cheaper path. If I find rust-through or a cracked liner, I will tell you straight that repair money is wasted. Major parts carry a one-year warranty either way.
