Broil element and bake element failures in Annex-era remodels. A blistered broil element or an open bake element is a clean, cheap diagnosis, but I also inspect the element terminal blocks, because heat-fatigued terminals in these older installs will kill a brand-new element early.
Door hinges rusted stiff near the water. In Marina Bay and Point Richmond, Dacor oven door hinges corrode and stiffen years sooner than inland. The door starts to fight you on opening, then stops closing flush, and heat loss follows. I replace hinges in pairs, treat the receivers, and check the gasket while the door is apart, since doing all of it in one visit saves a second trip fee.
Membrane and touchpad failures on Discovery controls. Older Dacor Discovery wall ovens use a touch membrane that stops registering certain keys, usually bake or the number pad first. Owners work around it for months using alternate functions. The membrane or the control interface board is the fix depending on model, and I test which one it is at the diagnostic rather than replacing both on spec.
