Whirlpool dishwashers are not a repair we take. Not any model, any year.
It is not a knock on the machines. It is the parts pricing. What a circulation pump, a control board, or a touch panel costs on one of these, set against what the dishwasher sold for new, turns the repair into a bad buy for you more often than not. We would rather tell you that here than charge you $99 to say it in your kitchen.
Everything else from these brands we still fix: refrigerators, ranges, ovens, cooktops, washers, and dryers. We repair dishwashers from every other brand.

Albany's housing is compact 1920s and 1930s bungalows on small lots along the Marin Avenue grid, and that shapes which Whirlpool models we see. A lot of these kitchens are sized for a 30 inch fridge, not a wide French-door, so WRT bottom-freezers and slimmer WRS units are as common here as the bigger French-door models. UC Village, the university family housing along Buchanan Street, adds its own steady stream of Whirlpool laundry and fridges that turn over with tenant families more often than an owner-occupied home does.
Because Albany is only 1.8 square miles, we're rarely driving far between stops here, and it's common for us to close out two or three Whirlpool jobs in the same afternoon between Solano Avenue and San Pablo Avenue. The ADUs and basement units that have gone in behind the older bungalows usually run a compact stackable washer and dryer, and those units see more cycles per square foot than a standalone laundry room would.

- Cabrio lid switch and gearbox. Common in ADU and UC Village laundry closets where turnover runs higher. If the lid switch is bad, the machine won't start at all; a worn tub bearing shows up as a grinding noise instead.
- WED/WGD thermal fuse with vent clearing. Short duct runs through a tight bungalow wall cavity still restrict airflow if the bend is sharp enough. We check and clear the vent run before we ever put in the new fuse.
- WRT/WRS icemaker and drain in compact fridges. The slimmer fridges that fit Albany's tighter kitchen cutouts have the same icemaker module and drain-line failures as full-size units. No ice or a freezer puddle, both parts stocked.
