Half Moon Bay is the anchor for the whole Coastside, and I treat Montara, Moss Beach, and El Granada the same as a call inside town, not a special trip. The homes near Main Street and the harbor restaurants run smaller Zephyr wall hoods in older kitchens. The newer builds up toward Miramar and inland run bigger island hoods, sometimes with a Presrv wine cooler tucked into a bar area.

Salt air off the ocean is hard on these units in a way it is not further inland. I see blower housings and control board connectors corroding years before they would in San Carlos or Burlingame, and Presrv door hinges and gaskets going stiff or rusting at the pins out here too. When a hood or a cooler acts up on the Coastside, I check for corrosion at the connectors and hinges first, before I assume a motor or compressor is just worn out.
