El Cerrito's housing stock is mostly 1940s to 1960s ranches and split-levels climbing off Moeser Lane and Barrett Avenue toward the Wildcat Canyon ridge, and a lot of those houses have been owned by the same family for decades. Maytag's durability reputation put plenty of Bravos washers and Centennial dryers into those laundry rooms years ago, and a good number are still running on original parts.
