Door gasket and hinge corrosion from salt air. Rubber door gaskets on Coastside fridges dry out and crack faster than the same part would inland, and metal hinges pick up surface rust that makes the door sag or stop closing flush. Once the seal is compromised, warm humid air gets pulled in every cycle and frost builds along the back wall. I check both the gasket and the hinge alignment together, since a worn hinge can make a perfectly good gasket look like it is failing when the real problem is the door not sitting square.
Condenser coil corrosion and clogging. The condenser coil is exposed metal, and out here it collects salt air residue on top of the usual dust, which speeds up corrosion and makes the fins clog faster than normal. A clogged coil forces the compressor to run longer to hit the same temperature, and that extra run time is what eventually kills it. I clean the coil, check for pitting or corrosion damage on the fins themselves, and confirm the compressor is cycling normally instead of running long.
Ice maker fill tube freezing from humidity swings. Fog rolling in and out changes humidity fast on the coast, and that swing affects the ice maker fill tube more than people expect. The tube ices over, water stops reaching the mold, and the ice maker quits making cubes even though the rest of the fridge runs fine. I thaw the tube, check for the actual cause of the icing rather than just clearing it once, and add insulation on the line where the model allows it.
