Most of the time, yes. Haier's tie to GE Appliances means coils, valves, and connectors are stock items through GE distribution. I only tell you a unit is done when the cabinet or the sealed system itself has corroded through, which does happen on very old coastal units.

Is there anything I can do between visits to slow the corrosion down?

Condenser coil corrosion cutting airflow. Salt in the air settles on the condenser coil and eats at the fins faster than dust ever would inland. The coil clogs with corrosion product instead of just lint, and airflow drops even after a normal cleaning. On older Pacifica units I check fin condition closely, since a badly corroded coil sometimes needs full replacement rather than a clean.
Water inlet valve corrosion and leaks. The inlet valve feeding a Haier's ice maker or water line sits near the back, closer to salt-laden moisture than people realize. A corroded valve body weeps slowly at first, then fails outright. I replace the valve rather than trying to reseal a corroded housing, since a reseal on a compromised valve does not hold out here.
Corroded electrical connectors causing intermittent cooling. A Pacifica Haier that cools fine some days and not at all on others often has a corroded connector or terminal somewhere in the wiring, not a failed board. Salt air works into connector housings over years and raises resistance until a connection drops out under load. I clean and reseat what I can, and replace connectors that have gone too far to trust.
