- Burner will not simmer or burns yellow. Usually restricted jets or a burner cap sitting off its locating pins. On a range converted to propane I check the orifices first, since the wrong size shows up as a lazy yellow flame.
- Grill or griddle module igniter. On the homes with a built-in GL grill or GD griddle module, a weak igniter or a stuck thermal valve is the usual cause of slow or no ignition. I test both and replace whichever failed.
- Oven bake glow-bar igniter. The glow-bar heats up but does not pull enough current to open the safety valve, so the oven never lights. Straight igniter swap, though I check the dual thermal valve and convection motor while the panel is open.
