- Refrigerator ices up, fresh food side runs warm. The defrost heater fails, frost builds on the coil, and airflow to the fresh food side stops. Heater and thermostat get replaced as a pair, and I verify the defrost cycle actually completes before I leave.
- Dryer runs but clothes stay damp. Usually a clogged vent run rather than the heating element itself, common in these older multi-family buildings where the vent run is long and rarely cleaned. I check the vent before I replace any part inside the machine.
