- Torn or flattened door gasket. Heavy door traffic wears the gasket flat at the latch side, warm air leaks in, and the unit ices up while the contents stay warm. - Water on the floor in front of the unit. Ice makers with a drain pump can leak from a cracked pump housing or a split drain hose, and the puddle shows up at the toe grille. We trace the water with the unit pulled, replace the pump or hose, and test a full harvest and drain cycle before pushing it back in. Floors in older Hayward bungalows do not forgive slow leaks.
