U-Line in South San Francisco

U-Line in South San Francisco kitchens.

South San Francisco calls split between the older homes up in Winston Manor and Serra Highlands, where a wine captain sits in a finished basement bar, and the newer condos and townhomes near Oyster Point and Sierra Point built for the biotech crowd working the labs east of 101.

The bigger reserves in those newer builds run on a compressor instead of a thermal-electric module, and that changes what fails first. 94080 is the ZIP for most of the city.

Water and ice systems

The water inlet valve, a common fridge leak.

Every fridge with a dispenser or ice maker has a water inlet valve. The fittings can leak under the cabinet, or the solenoid fails and the dispenser and ice maker stop getting water.

Common repairs we do

What we close on the truck.

  • Compressor-based wine reserve start relay. Full-size reserves near Oyster Point use a compressor, not a thermal-electric module, and the start relay is usually the first thing to fail. Unit hums but does not cool. We test and swap the relay.
  • Wine captain thermal-electric module. In the Winston Manor and Serra Highlands basement bars, the single-zone module runs for years, then one side goes warm while the other stays cold. Module and gasket swap fixes it.
  • Undercounter ice maker water inlet valve. No ice or a half-full bin traces back to the inlet valve more often than to the ice machine itself. We replace the valve and check the screen.
  • Evaporator fan motor. A clicking or grinding sound from inside the cabinet before the unit goes warm is the evaporator fan bearing failing. We replace the fan motor.
