- Oven won't hold 350 anymore. This is the classic aging-igniter pattern on a gas RG30: preheat stretches out, then the oven starts cycling low. The igniter still glows, so most people rule it out, wrongly. Current draw tells the truth. Below spec, the gas valve never opens fully, and a new igniter restores the oven completely.
- Snapping sound and a spark where it shouldn't be. A spark wire with chafed insulation arcs to the chassis instead of the electrode tip, and you hear it snap under the cooktop. Years of heat and cleaning sprays get the insulation eventually. I replace the damaged lead and inspect the rest of the harness while the top is up.
- Under-cabinet hood fan quits or stutters. The small fan switches on compact hoods take grease and heat at close range, and they fail more often than the motors do. If the motor spins when jumped, the switch is the repair. If not, motors for these hoods are inexpensive enough that fixing still beats replacing the whole hood.
