It is not a knock on the machines. It is the parts pricing. What a circulation pump, a control board, or a touch panel costs on one of these, set against what the dishwasher sold for new, turns the repair into a bad buy for you more often than not. We would rather tell you that here than charge you $99 to say it in your kitchen.

The higher-end remodels run built-in brands, Sub-Zero and Wolf in the kitchens, but most of the LG we touch is elsewhere in the house: the laundry rooms, the secondary kitchens, the guest units, and the rentals. An older LG French-door fridge in a back kitchen can be a linear-compressor unit, and we pull the serial and check LG's extended program before we open it.

- LE motor fault on dual-inverter washers. Sensor that tracks the rotor has drifted. We provide a written repair estimate after the on-site diagnosis and before any work starts.
- UE unbalance fault on front-load laundry. We service-cycle the machine and check the suspension rods before touching parts. Worn rods are the common culprit.
- Range control-knob spark-switch failure. Ignition pops or won't light, usually around year five. Replace the switch and fire each burner.
- Linear-compressor diagnosis on older French-door fridges. Compressor runs but the box won't cool. We verify the fault and your settlement-program standing before quoting.
