It is not a knock on the machines. It is the parts pricing. What a circulation pump, a control board, or a touch panel costs on one of these, set against what the dishwasher sold for new, turns the repair into a bad buy for you more often than not. We would rather tell you that here than charge you $99 to say it in your kitchen.

Everything else from these brands we still fix: refrigerators, ranges, ovens, cooktops, washers, and dryers. We repair dishwashers from every other brand.

LG in Richmond

LG in Richmond kitchens.

Richmond spans 94801, 94804, 94805, and 94806, and LG shows up across most of it. The older bungalow and mid-century stock through the Annex, the Iron Triangle, and Hilltop runs LG laundry hard. Front-load washer bearings and the dual-inverter LE motor fault are the bread-and-butter calls here. The LE is a rotor-position sensor that drifts off, and we test it on a cycle before we touch the motor.

Out at Point Richmond and the Marina Bay townhomes the kitchens get nicer, and that is where the LG InstaView and ThinQ fridges turn up. ThinQ units sometimes go dark from the app while the fridge is fine, and that is the door Wi-Fi module, rarely worth a standalone trip. The older LG French-doors anywhere in town can hit the 2014-2019 linear-compressor failure, where the compressor runs but won't pump. We check the serial against LG's program before we quote.

Water and ice systems

Every fridge with a dispenser or ice maker has a water inlet valve. The fittings can leak under the cabinet, or the solenoid fails and the dispenser and ice maker stop getting water.

Laundry

How to spot a bad washer drain pump.

LG and Samsung washer drain pumps side by side. When a washer will not drain or hums at the end of a cycle, this small pump is the usual suspect, and the two brands fail in different ways.
