It is not a knock on the machines. It is the parts pricing. What a circulation pump, a control board, or a touch panel costs on one of these, set against what the dishwasher sold for new, turns the repair into a bad buy for you more often than not. We would rather tell you that here than charge you $99 to say it in your kitchen.

Pacifica sits right on the coast, Linda Mar, Sharp Park, Fairmont, and the Pacific Manor blocks up above Highway 1, and the marine layer here isn't an occasional thing, it's most days. That matters for appliances more than people think. Salt-laden air corrodes exposed metal parts faster than it would ten miles inland, and we see it show up on igniter contacts, fan motor bearings, and any bracket or screw that isn't stainless. LG shows up across this housing stock mixed in with Samsung and Whirlpool, mostly French-door fridges and front-load laundry.
The corrosion angle is real and not something we invent to sell parts. An LG range near an ocean-facing window will oxidize its igniter contacts years before the same part would fail in Danville, and the burner starts hesitating to light instead of failing outright. Evap-fan motor bearings on LG fridges seize a little earlier here too, from the constant humidity working into the bearing over time, not from age alone. On top of that, Pacifica gets the standard LG linear-compressor no-cool on the 2014 to 2019 French-doors, same failure as anywhere else, and we check the serial against LG's compressor program before we open a panel.

- Range igniter contact corrosion. Salt air oxidizes the igniter contacts faster here than inland. Burner hesitates or won't light. Clean or replace the igniter, test the spark.
- Evap-fan motor bearing failure from coastal humidity. Fridge runs warm as the fan bearing seizes early. Fan motor swap, verify airflow, roughly half an hour.
- Linear-compressor no-cool diagnosis. 2014 to 2019 French-door units, compressor runs but won't pump. We check the serial against LG's compressor program before quoting labor.

Do you actually service Pacifica, or is it out of range?
We're in Pacifica regularly, Linda Mar, Sharp Park, Fairmont, and the Manor. We now run a technician based on the Peninsula in San Mateo, and Pacifica routes with San Bruno and Daly City on that day, so it's not a special trip anymore. -
Is the salt air really why my LG range and fridge parts fail faster?
Yes. I've opened enough units out here to see it directly, corroded igniter contacts, seized fan bearings, oxidized brackets, all on units that would have more life left ten miles inland. It's a real factor and I account for it when I diagnose a Pacifica call. -
Can I do anything to slow the corrosion down?
Wiping down range control panels and knobs after they've been exposed to open windows helps some, and keeping the fridge's rear vent clear of salt film matters too. It won't stop it entirely, but it buys you time between service calls.
